Seeing the Blues
Photographer Jamie Turner Exhibits his Blues Fest Images at the Arts Council Gallery.

It can be difficult to translate the power, mood and passion of one art form into another, but 2009 Western Maryland Blues Fest artist Jamie Turner makes it look easy. He’s been covering the Blues Fest photographically for several years, and culled a collection of 2,500 photos down to 20 for his show at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery in downtown Hagerstown. Jamie’s photos, together with several by his twin brother, Jason Turner, capture the soul and spirit of renowned blues performers like Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown, Nora Jean Bruso and Guitar Shorty, to name a few.

The exhibit continues through June 24 at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery, 14 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown. The gallery is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
