Branching Out: Centra Bank
Centra Bank Constructs New Office in North Pointe

• • •

Centra Bank broke ground on its North Pointe office in May, with a grand opening planned for early September. “In a time when many banks are changing and reducing the number of locations they have, our goal is to increase customer access and satisfaction,” says Centra Bank President and COO Mark Harrell. “We are a community bank and focused on putting the money we take in on deposit back into the local community.” Located near the new Martin’s grocery store — as well as the Arbor Gate and Fountain Head Manor neighborhoods — the new branch is nestled in a growing area and will offer three easy-access entrances. “It’s a great location — really convenient — because customer access is very important to us,” says CEO Timothy Henry. “This office is located in a growing part of Hagerstown. We’re fortunate to be moving into the neighborhood.”

Serving a mix of individual and business customers, the office will provide full-service banking including lending, investments, instant-issue debit cards, safety deposit boxes and private lending offices. The state-of-the-art 3,400-square-foot branch, which will offer a full-service lobby, four drive-through lanes and an ATM lane was built using the talents of a local contractor and subcontractors. “We feel we’re a different bank, and it’s important to use local folks,” Mark says. “We’re happy to have so many of our local contractors involved with building our branch.” Area companies involved in the construction include Myers Building Systems, AESI, Ellsworth Electric, Supreme Plumbing, G.A. Miller Lumber, Smith Brothers Drywall and David H. Martin Excavating.

The newest branch represents the solid gains and strong support Centra Bank has made in the area since opening its first Hagerstown branch on Frederick Street in 2007. “It’s hard to believe that two short years ago we started Centra Bank in Hagerstown,” says bank Chairman of the Board Mike Murray. “We truly believed Washington County was ready for a true community bank,” he continues, one with local management and a local board making local decisions. The bank currently holds more than $100 million in assets and growing.
