March / April - 2014
The weather hasn’t totally broken for the better yet, but at least we’ve distanced ourselves from polar vortices and hopefully are near the end of school closures and delays. So, with hopes of warmer weather — or at the very least, less snow — we bring you the March/April issue of HM. This issue revels in the area’s rustic charm. In this issue, we take a trip out to Four States Livestock B&J Auction where Barb and Jim Starliper run one of the few remaining hubs for local farmers to buy and sell livestock. We also recap and preview the things to come at the Bonanza Extravaganza — the two-day affair that boasts over $800,000 in cash and prizes, and also features entertainment, and tons of local food and drink at Hagerstown Speedway on Mother’s Day Weekend. Need more? What do the tractor-pullin’ family behind Moore Motorsports, sculptor Scott Cawood and Flying Pie Co. all have in common? They are all following their passions and promoting what they do best in the area. As always, there’s more to cover than there is space, so enjoy this sample of what HM’s got in store this issue.
